Writer Writes but Director Decides:-

One may question that a writer writes the scripts, the Cinematographer captures the films but what does a director do? A Film Director has decided if a script has the potential to become a film or not. So as a Film director you must be aware of the Script Writing Elements.

Understanding the Script Writing Elements is The Foundation :-

The foundation and plan for any movie is writing or scriptwriting. The prominence can’t be exaggerated. There’s a saying that not all superb screenplays or scripts might become great movies, but positively there has never been a bad writing/scriptwriting that has become a great film.

Good screenwriting/scriptwriting is the first chunk to setting oneself up for success. So what makes a decent screenplay?

When you read a screenplay? How can you know that this one is decent or good to be considered for directing a movie? How would you differentiate between the two scripts? That is a question of perception or in better words taste. One may admire something that you don’t, but that is certainly just a small thing to acknowledge one need to go a bit deeper to find if a screenplay or script is worth making a movie out of it. So here are some real-world pieces of stuff to ask yourself when understanding a screenplay to conclude whether a screenplay is worthy or not.

1. Does the Story Makes Sense

Primarily, does the basic story have some logic that can smoothly be projected as a film in the future? This appears like actually one of the elemental questions, but often we have seen that screenwriters think that because it makes sense in their heads, others will grasp it and they will understand the story of the film, and let us just break this myth that it’s just not true.

Once you’ve read the screenplay, the screenplay must be captivated enough so that you should be able to repeat the stories simply in a few sentences to anybody. If one fined him through the conversation that writer is over-explaining or saying things like, Oh, no, you’ll understand it. If you read it, then red-flag the screenplay. It might need more work.

2. The structure of Script

As a director when you are reading a screenplay, can you feel the writing, structure, and flow? Did the screenplay and writing style surprise you? Did you understand the parts of the script and crucial plot points?

And the most important element is once you finished reading the screenplay; one must be able to understand what are the main characters what they are doing in the films and how was their journey in

the screenplay?

A decent, strong construction of screenplay usually safeguards the above elements. The whirling story blocks allow for astonishment and plotting, as well as confirming that the screenwriter has focused the subjects and character attitudes in a certain method, or additionally one could get practical about structure by a fast reading of the screenplay.

One shortcut is reading the pages in quick mode say you can read few pages of beginning, middle, and end. But this is not a proper way to decide upon a screenplay a better way is to ask for the synopsis of the film and then go for the script reading session.

03. Tensions and Solutions A Crucial aspect of Script Writing Elements

Creating tensions and heading towards the solutions in the screenplay is considered one of the crucial aspects of scriptwriting elements. Tension is created through the plot, which makes a tale more fascinating and engaging that allows the audience to carry their emotions with the film story. Your hero is driven out of their existing situation by conflict and toward transmigration. As they get older, their needs gain precedence over their desires, until they are completely transformed at the resolution.

04. Are the problems that are being set up solved?

A worthy screenplay required tackling every question that it raises about the plot, character, or atmosphere. A good screenplay and script aim to address each plot and subplot that it has opened, leaving the audience pleased that there are no losers. So as a director you have to decide that script you choose to work with must make sense through its structure it must clear the problems that are being introduced in the screenplay and script by the writers. The problems must be solved and it must have a logic, which can be digested by the audience. This is called intelligent storytelling.
